Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi would hold third edition of the Zalmi Madrasa League at the Younis Khan Cricket Stadium, Miranshah from September 27 to 29.
The aim of the league was to bring the students of madaris to the mainstream sports arena, Chairman Javed Afridi said in a statement.
According to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Peshawar Zalmi aims at bringing the students of madaris into the mainstream sports activities and promote religious harmony across the region through sports.
The league was being organized with the help of the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Youth Affairs.
Afridi said Zalmi Madrasa League was an effort to fulfill the vision of the prime minister and take it forward.
“It would provide an opportunity to madaris students to interact with each other and also play cricket together. This will promote religious harmony across the region,” Javed said.
A total of 8 teams belonging to the tribal districts would participate in the league. The teams include Wazirtsan Fighters South, Wazirtsan Worriers North, Bajaur Lions, Khyber Eagles, Khyber Falcons, Jamrud Kings, Mohmand Tigers and Orakzai Thunders.
