Zakir Hussain, an Olympian, passes away

ISLAMABAD: the former goalkeeper of Pakistan’s national hockey team, Olympian Zakir Hussain, passed away on Monday. He was eighty-five.

In his home town of Gulshen Anwar Masjid, Jinnah Colony, Wah Cantt, Zakir Hussain’s funeral prayer will be held.

Zakir Hussain was awarded a gold medal at the 1968 Mexico Summer Olympics and a silver medal at the 1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics.

President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Brig (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and Secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Muhammad Asif Bajwa voiced profound grief at the iconic Olympian’s death.

They prayed to the Almighty in their condolences texts to rest the departed soul in perpetual peace and give courage to his bereaved family members.
