Reports of detentions and limitations enforced in Indian Occupied Kashmir have been articulated by the US.
Speaking to Washington press, spokesman for the State Department Morgan Ortagus said the U.S. is tightly monitoring the scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesman said Washington, including on rhetoric, continues to call for calm and restraint.
She said the U.S. promotes dialog to resolve problems between Pakistan and India, adding Washington’s concern about compulsory imprisonment and curfew in the occupied Indian Kashmir.
The statement from the State Department comes after US President Donald Trump met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit earlier this week in France.
During the meeting, Trump raised the issue of occupied Kashmir with Modi, expressing hope that something positive would come out of talks between Pakistan and India.
