Miftah Ismail granted bail in LNG case

On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail against Rs10 million protective bonds to former finance minister Miftah Ismail. Ismail was arrested in the case of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import deal by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) back in August.

After more than four months of pre-trial detention, NAB had filed a reference in the LNG case earlier this month against 10 defendants, including Ismail and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Ismail is accused during his time as a minister of discrepancies in awarding a contract.

A two-member bench of the IHC, under Chief Justice Athar Minullah, conducted a hearing into the case earlier today.
