Did not apply for the position of head coach: #Misbah-ul-Haq

LAHORE: On Wednesday, former cricket captain Misbah-ul-Haq quashed all rumors that he was the next national team coach and said he didn’t apply for Pakistan’s head coach post.

Speaking to the press after the National Cricket Academy’s second day of practice, Misbah said, “My full attention is to the camp. I pay unique attention to the players that have been contracted centrally. My goal is to get better fitness for the players and to select the finest players.

In response to a query about the captain of the national team, the 45-year-old said, “The Pakistan Cricket Board has the final say about the captain.” He added, “Players will be selected in the domestic games on the grounds of their performance, but fitness will not be the only criteria, the team’s need will also be taken into consideration.”

Eighteen players participate under Misbah’s guidance in theNCA pre-season training camp.

The campsite ending on September 7 was organized by the PCB to achieve the goal of enhancing players ‘ fitness and endurance ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming assignment of the ICC championship’s two-Test series against Sri Lanka at home.
