On Tuesday, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar suspended Chairman of the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Syed Mustafa Kamal as the ‘ Project Director Garbage ‘ of the city, just hours after the former mayor was tasked the position to assist clean up the city.

Making public statements earlier today, Akhtar said that he had “suspended Mustafa Kamal from his post as Karachi’s Project Director Garbage until further instructions,” less than 24 hours after Kamal was named Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) ‘ Project Director Garbage ‘ to clean the city garbage in 90 days.

“Mustafa Kamal is busy with political point scoring rather than coming to the office and [ working ],” said a visibly angry Akhtar.

“I took advantage of my honesty and used it for politics. This implies that you [ Mustafa Kamal ] have not been sincere in solving Karachi’s issues,” he added.
